I am currently working as a Technical Lead in the Enterprise
Architecture Group at KalSoft
(Pvt.) Ltd.; I have worked as analyst, developer, technical lead, and consultant
in various projects related to banking, finance, telecom, and e-learning.
I graduated with a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from
National
University of
Computer and Emerging Sciences, Karachi Campus.
During my masters, I worked as a Research Officer and main advisor of
the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Office at FAST-NU,
Karachi Campus. I also managed the ICT office for
over five month in the absence of the regular manager. During that
time, I setup a PVM-based distributed prototype computing environment
and a grid computing prototype environment. I also had an active role
in setting up a Linux-Lab at the campus consisting of old PCs.
My current research interests include the following. More details can
be found on research
interests page and
in my
blog.
Grid
Computing: I am
interested in a variety of topics related
to grids, including grid protocols, business policies, collaborative,
scietific and educational uses of grids. (For grid computing
information and my
view visit my Grid
Computing Blog; Now merged with The
Grid Blog; research details can
be found on the research
interests page)
Mobile Agents: I am specifically interested
in using agents for grid computing as well as for network monitoring
and security.
Network Protocol Design
& Analysis:
I would like to work on the design and anslysis of transport and
application layer protocols for grids and www.
Distributed
Solutions and Algorithms: Most of the companies
are faced with data explosion, with lots of unorganized data which is
not
easily searchable. I am interested in searching such
data along with highly available and
redundant distributed data management systems over extensible networks
Peer-to-Peer &
Ad-hoc Networks: I am also interested
to work on routing and data protection techniques in Ad-hocand
peer-to-peer networks and work
towards secure networking, systems, and applications

I am a rather introverted person with some interest in sports
and outdoor activities, even though I had been member of various sports
team in school and college. I would gladly spend my life in the house
with lots of books and computer with Internet connection. Loves music
and cool gadgets. I have converted my very old
Pentium box
into a cheap linux jukebox - works very well for my tons on MP3s.
Academically, I like all Computer Science areas may be with
the exception of purely theoretical ones. Main research areas include
distributed systems especially Grid Computing, network protocols and
modelling and related areas. Practically, I like to do programming,
designing and administration of networks and systems but I am more
interested in R&D.
